Gromit Was Attacked!
Last Monday, while at Hicks Lake in Lacey, Washington, Gromit was attacked by another dog. We were having a great time playing fetch at the lake and Gromit was frolicking in the lake when out of no where comes this black lab about half of his size and decides to jump on Gromit and start bighting his ear off. Gromit, being the big baby that he is, just stood there in total shock waiting for him mommy to come to his rescue. I ran to Gromits aid right away and got the other dog off of him. At this time the owner of the lab shows up, and just says “sorry” and walks off with his dog. I turned to Gromit to make sure that he was okay and noticed that his ear had been bit pretty well, and there was blood everywhere. I spent several minutes looking for the other dog and his owner but I needed to get Gromit to the Vet so I left the park with no luck in finding the two.
Now, at this park, all dogs must be on a leash at all times. But several people break this rule everyday, including me. I feel if you have control of your dog, it’s not fair to make him be on a leash. It’s a park, with a lake! Come ON! Let your doggy be free! My concern is with the people that do not know how to control their dogs or dogs that just randomly attack other dogs. I blame the owner for not having control of his dog and for not watching his dog at all times. This man should be fined and he should have to pay my vet bill! Learn how to control your DOG!
Before you get too worried, Gromit is fine. He had to have 4 stitches in his left ear, and will have a good battle scar with a story to tell his friends.
Here are some pics of his ear. If the sight of blood bothers you, please stop reading this post!
This was in the truck on the way to the vet. You can't see the rip in his ear very well, but its there.
